The Dalí Quartet is internationally acclaimed for elevating Latin American chamber music to stand alongside the Classical and Romantic canon. Named Chamber Music America’s 2024 Ensemble of the Year, the Quartet is praised for its “unique freshness” (Fanfare) and “brilliant accuracy” (Washington Classical Review).
Touring widely throughout the Americas, the Dalí Quartet appears in major recital and concerto engagements, presenting repertoire that spans Amaya, Ginastera, Revueltas, and Piazzolla alongside Dvořák, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, and the complete Beethoven string quartet cycle. Its latest recording, Voces Latinas, is released on Centaur Records.
The Quartet collaborates with leading artists including Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Olga Kern and Philadelphia Orchestra Principal Clarinetist Ricardo Morales. Their Delos Records recording of the Brahms and Shostakovich piano quintets with Kern was praised for its “muscular phrasing and a taut collective sonority” (MusicWeb International).
The Dalí Quartet has been presented by major series and festivals across North America, including appearances in New York, Toronto, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Juan, with return engagements at Bravo! Vail, the Banff Centre, the National Gallery of Art, and Maverick Concerts. A recent highlight includes a debut at the Library of Congress performing on its historic Antonio Stradivari instruments.
The Quartet has also received the 2023 ACMP Susan McIntosh Lloyd Award, the 2021 Silver Medal at the Piazzolla Music Competition, Chamber Music America's Guarneri String Quartet Residency, and the Atlanta Symphony’s Aspire Award honoring accomplished African American and Latino musicians.
Beyond the stage, the quartet leads the Dalí Quartet International Music Festival and serves as Quartet-in-Residence at West Chester University in PA, and is an Iris Collective Resident Ensemble in Memphis, TN.
Inspired by its namesake, the great Spanish artist Salvador Dalí, the quartet holds imagination and excellence at the heart of its music making.
The quartet performs on Pirastro Strings and WMutes.
